Ford Super Duty 2023 Review
The 2023 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-600 pickups and chassis cabs are "searing hot"
Super Duty's redesigned exterior has a dropping beltline, muscular hood, softer front fenders (wheels/tires are now flush with the fenders), seven grille choices, and updated C-clamp daytime running lights and LED headlamps for all trim levels. On pickups, designers included bed-access steps on the rear bumper and bed sidewalls. Lower tailgate step, "tailgate-down" camera, and reverse sensor system are also included. New STX, Sport, and Black appearance packages add trim, wheels, and paint to the pickups.
Ford Pro Undercover
The 2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty's look and interior are the first noticeable differences from 1999 to 2022. All of the new rig's high-tech and cyber-focused features are the key draws. Ford's Pro Power Onboard 2.0-kilowatt auxiliary power system, Ford Pro's Upfit Integration System that simplifies adding and operating accessories and equipment, such as lights or snow plows, and the big ones: Ford Pro (connectivity feature for increasing efficiency and uptime for commercially used rigs) and embedded AT&T 5G capability (industry first for U.S.-built trucks) that enables faster mapping, Wi-Fi hotspots, and more.
2023 Ford F-Series Super Duty interior updates include a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch center display on XL vehicles, and a 12-inch screen on higher trims. The lowered center console has places to hold a tablet upright and four USB connections and a wireless charging pad (for easier use when the truck is parked). Max-Recline front seats recline almost horizontally and lift the seat bottom, there's a flat back floor and storage, and you get a 640-watt, eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system or an optional 1,080-watt, 18-speaker B&O Unleashed audio package.
Two new engines—one gas, one turbodiesel—are now available for all trim levels. All-new 6.8-liter V-8 gasser has more torque than outgoing 6.2-liter engine. The 6.7-liter Power Stroke and 7.3-liter "Godzilla" V-8 survive. Ford is optimistic that the OG gas engine's air-intake system and PCM tune will boost power and torque.
Small-block and 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel engine performance details were not disclosed. The 6.8-liter might make steep climbs and highway merges easier. The 6.7-liter Power Stroke has a unique turbo, modified exhaust manifolds, and tuned for maximum horsepower and torque. In the next days, we'll examine both new engines.
Every 2023 Super Duty includes Ford's TorqShift ten-speed automatic transmission, and chassis cabs have a power-takeoff connection.
