Canon PIXMA GM4050 Driver Downloads - Canon's cartridge-free inkjet lineup has been expanded with the addition of two mono MegaTank models. The Canon PIXMA GM4050 is an A4-sized multifunction printer (opens in new tab) that comes with a scanner, automatic document feeder (ADF), Wi-Fi, and all the other capabilities that you would require in a small office, with the exception of color printing. In addition to that, you may get it if you pay the additional fee for the tri-color cartridge.

However, at its core, this is a simple multifunction device that only prints in black and white, and its most notable feature is the extraordinary page yield. There are a total of 6,000 pages that may be produced from one bottle of black ink, and the box contains three bottles. Because it only costs about £300 (about $411 or AU$538), this inkjet printer is more cost-effective to purchase and operate than the majority of lasers. At first sight, it may appear that this very inexpensive all-in-one gadget has everything that one might want, but closer inspection will reveal that it is lacking a few capabilities. It is quite likely that we should have said right away that it is not compatible with Macs.

The Canon PIXMA GM4050 makes an effort to conceal its significant bulk by having rounded edges and a somewhat low profile (it stands 23 centimeters tall), but it is still quite a substantial lump of black plastic. It is quite unlikely that it will be honored with a Red Dot design award in the same way that its primary rival, the Epson EcoTank ET-M2140, has been (opens in new tab).

Canon has maintained its commitment to the more conventional design by positioning the automated document feeder (ADF) on top of an A4-sized flatbed scanner, which in turn is located on top of the printer. If you are solely concerned in the printing capabilities of the device, the Canon PIXMA GM4020 is the model that you should consider purchasing.

When you are standing directly in front of the printer, the whole control panel may be folded out of the way so that it is easier to view. However, the display consists of only two lines and is extremely tiny, making it difficult to see from any distance.

The back of the device features ports for connecting an Ethernet cable and a USB data cable, however there is neither a front nor a rear USB port or memory card slot. The reservoir made of transparent plastic that is located in the top left corner of the device is likely the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the design. This reservoir makes it simple to determine how much black ink is still available.

If this were a color model, like the Canon PIXMA G6050, there would be three additional tanks on the right hand side, but as it is only capable of printing in black and white, there is simply an empty area in this instance. This area is just large enough to house an additional cartridge in case one is needed. Yes, you read it correctly; the refillable MegaTank printers made by Canon do not totally eliminate the need for cartridges. They utilize a little black cartridge that is topped out by the bottled ink. This cartridge is quite small. When you wish to upgrade to color printing, you also have the option of adding a cartridge that prints in three colors alongside the one you already have.
