2023 Ford Mustang Mach E Review

2023 Ford Mustang Mach E Review

2023 Ford Mustang Mach E Review - What kind of handling does the Mustang Mach-E have? Although it has the appearance of a station wagon, the Mach-E SUV provides the kind of speed and maneuverability that one would anticipate from a vehicle with the Mustang name. We put the Mach-E Premium model with the extended-range battery and all-wheel drive through its paces for our review. It took 5.2 seconds for it to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour on the Edmunds test track. The Mach-E, at least the one that we tested, is a pleasingly speedy electric vehicle. There are a few competing EVs that are a bit quicker, such as the Tesla Model Y, but the overall performance of the Mach-E is impressive.

Comfort

How accommodating is the inside of the Mustang Mach-E? The highlights include a suspension that does an outstanding job of soaking up major bumps on the road, a cabin that is well insulated against wind and ambient noise, and a temperature control system that is both excellent and simple to use. Even if the offered seat warmers and steering wheel heaters heat up rather quickly, we'd still want the option of seat ventilation for when the temperature outside is higher.

How would you rate the inside? One of our current favorites is the most recent iteration of Ford's Sync 4 infotainment system, which was developed expressly for the 15.5-inch central touchscreen seen in the Mach-E. The menus are simple to browse, and there is a helpful shortcut bar that is constantly updated depending on the tasks you have most recently used. In addition, in contrast to the Tesla Model Y, the Mach-E is equipped with a 10.2-inch digital drive cluster that projects all of the relevant information directly into the line of sight of the driver.

Technology

How is the technology? The Mach-E does an excellent job with its interior technology. We are pleased with the large 15.5-inch touchscreen that is located in the middle and is supplemented by physical controls such as a volume knob. In contrast to the Model Y, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration systems are both standard, and wireless connectivity is available (though you can still connect through USB cord). The in-car navigation system offered by Ford is quick to respond and has a sleek look, but it is not unduly simplistic like some of the company's rivals' offerings.

Storage

How would you rate the storage? The hatchback design of the Mach-trunk E's helps to optimize available cargo capacity. According to Ford, there is a total cargo capacity of 29 cubic feet behind the rear seats. In particular with regard to underfloor space, this is not as spacious as the Model Y. On the other hand, there is a really ingenious flexible cargo cover that is attached to the back hatch and can either be removed entirely or swung up out of the way to get out of the way. The foldable, split rear seats of the Mach-E contribute to the vehicle's already impressive load capacity. Although the front trunk is not very large, it does include a drain hole, so you are able to use it as a cooler that you can fill with ice and then empty at a later time.

Both in Terms of Range and Efficacy

How is the efficiency and how far does it go? [Editor's note: the following information is based on our testing of a 2021 Mustang Mach-E. Although the EPA-estimated range has risen somewhat beginning in 2022, the accompanying test findings are still generally relevant.] According to estimates, a 2021 Mach-E equipped with all-wheel drive and an extended-range battery will have a range of 270 miles and an efficiency of 37 kWh of battery power used for every 100 miles driven. Both of those numbers are about par for the course when it comes to premium EVs.

Value

Is the price of the Mustang Mach-E reasonable? In contrast to Tesla, Ford's electric vehicle (EV) credits have not yet been exhausted; hence, there is still the possibility of receiving discounts on the Mach-E, which makes it a very appealing purchase option. The construction quality seems to be rather high overall, and the inside is exquisitely finished in a manner that has a look and feel that is evocative of Scandinavian architecture. You might easily be fooled into thinking you were traveling in a Lincoln if it weren't for the standard Ford switchgear that can be seen on the steering wheel and the doors.

When compared to warranties offered by premium brands, those offered by Ford are comparable in length but not quite as extensive. The bumper-to-bumper coverage is good for three years and 36,000 miles, while the powertrain coverage is good for five years and 60,000 miles. The warranty on electric components lasts for eight years or 100,000 miles and includes the requirement that the battery retain at least 70% of its original capacity.

Ford Mustang Mach-E models

[Note from the editor: the material that follows is derived from Mach-E from the previous year. We anticipate that the 2023 model will have a lineup that is comparable, and we will update this section as soon as we obtain all of the relevant information. The Ford Mustang Mach-E is an all-electric SUV with seating for five people and a body shape that, in reality, falls between between an SUV and a wagon. There are four different trim levels to choose from, including Select, Premium, California Route 1, and GT. Battery and electric motor combinations may have a significant impact on power outputs as well as the projected range provided by the EPA. The following players are featured:
