2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime

2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime

2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime It has been almost 2.5 years since the 2023 model year Toyota Rav4 Prime first hit U.S. shores. It's time to shift the SUV's personality toward that of a "strong off-road vehicle," it seems. Because of this, the Japanese will release a new model year 2022 version of the trend-fifth setter's generation in the first quarter, with a moniker that makes it obvious that hill and dale can be carried under the wheels for more than just an emergency.

For good reason, the Toyota RAV4 Adventure (the "adventure" in the name) comes in a two-tone color scheme. It's meant to evoke one of its great-grandfathers, the Land Cruiser FJ40 (also known as J4), produced between 1960 and 1984, which evoked the bush taxi myth formed around the off-road vehicle with its combination of "Urban Khaki" and gray color in the roof area from the A-pillar to the roof edge spoiler.

Introducing the RAV4's all-new exterior

The RAV4's front fascia has also been updated, with the Toyota insignia moving from the upper edge to the center of the radiator grille. The grille itself is now higher and totally black, with two centrally-placed cross bracing. The skid plates are silver and the 19-inch wheels are matte black, and the bezels around the fog lights are black. Those in the later group have roomier spaces for turning their wheels.

Black, artificial-leather seat cushions with intricately quilted backs and seats line the inside. Bright orange seam detailing stands out nicely.

All-wheel drive is the only option currently available.

All-wheel drive Adventure models of the Toyota RAV4 are equipped with the hybrid powertrain. It doesn't have a charging port but includes a second electric motor on the back axle to increase the number of driven wheels to four. A 2.5-liter inline-four gas engine and two electric motors produce a combined 163 kW/222 hp, with the transmission of that power handled by a CVT. Weighing in at up to 1,650 kilos, the trailer can accommodate a fair bit.
The RAV4 Adventure price has not been released by Toyota at this time. For now, the base price for the all-wheel drive model (the "Comfort" trim level) is €39,890.
